91ֱ�� is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Seydl as the new John G. W. Cowles Director of the Allen Memorial Art Museum. He will begin his tenure on July 1.

This December, 91ֱ�� will present a concert version of Rhiannon Giddens’ award-winning opera, both at Finney Chapel in 91ֱ�� and the Maltz Performing Arts Center in Cleveland. Surrounding it are all kinds of cross-disciplinary events for campus and community.

Matthew Rarey, the chair of 91ֱ��’s art history department and an associate professor of African and Black Atlantic art history, won the College Art Association’s prestigious Charles Rufus Morey Book Award in 2024.

The museum world is known for posing big questions. The Allen Memorial Art Museum has a plan for addressing them.

The Allen Memorial Art Museum’s latest exhibit, Picturing the Intangible: 91ֱ�� Looks at Dawoud Bey’s Night Coming Tenderly, Black, is part of a series exploring the Underground Railroad.
