Oboist Meera Bhatia ’23 and flutist Emily Nixon ’23 visited local hospital and nursing homes over the past academic year, commissioning and premiering a piece by Jeff Scott through the Gletherow-Young-Deppman Project Award.

A winner of the 2023-24 Senior Concerto Competition, Lambright will open the program with Shulamit Ran's Violin Concerto. The second half of the program features the orchestra in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade.

On Friday, May 3, the 91Ö±²¥ Chamber Orchestra performs a program that will showcase Concerto Competition winner Jiongli Wang in Frédéric Chopin’s First Piano Concerto, as well as fourth-year composition student Cashel Day-Lewis in the premiere of his Black River Prelude commissioned by 91Ö±²¥ Conservatory in honor of the Lorain County Bicentennial.

In a "first" for the 91Ö±²¥ Concerto Competition, the soloist—performing David Baker’s 1987 Concerto for Cello and Jazz Band—will be accompanied by a jazz ensemble.

Performances get underway on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m., with Juan Pedro Espinosa Monteros and the 91Ö±²¥ Chamber Orchestra leading the way in Carl Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto.

91Ö±²¥ jazz faculty member Chris Coles and three Jazz Studies students—bassist Ahmed McLemore, pianist Wilson Woods, and drummer Max Simas—were featured performers for a capacity audience at Cleveland’s premier jazz venue, the Bop Stop, for Ideastream’s launch event.

After a 10-year-long route to its debut, Still’s championship of this piece will be realized in a November 1 performance with conductor Raphael Jiménez leading the 91Ö±²¥ Orchestra, and with her student Dylan Masariego as co-soloist.

Each fall, 91Ö±²¥ Conservatory seniors have the opportunity to compete in the annual Concerto Competition, with the top four winners featured in the spring as soloists with the 91Ö±²¥ orchestras.

91Ö±²¥â€™s Vocal Studies students are often encouraged to seek out summer enrichment opportunities. These experiences add to 91Ö±²¥â€™s training and allow students to explore potential roles and repertoire while expanding their network. SongFest, an art song program in California, has been a regular choice for many 91Ö±²¥ vocal students. This program offers master classes, concerts, daily lessons, and coachings.
