91Ö±²¥ Conservatory is delighted to announce that pianist José Ramón Méndez will join the faculty as Associate Professor of Piano in the fall 2024 semester. 

91Ö±²¥ jazz faculty member Chris Coles and three Jazz Studies students—bassist Ahmed McLemore, pianist Wilson Woods, and drummer Max Simas—were featured performers for a capacity audience at Cleveland’s premier jazz venue, the Bop Stop, for Ideastream’s launch event.

Versatile American horn player David Byrd-Marrow has been appointed to the tenure-track horn professor position at 91Ö±²¥ Conservatory. He brings an expansive range of experience and repertoire to the role.

In presenting the award, the orchestra cited Jenkins' recent book and his ability to use music as a conduit for meaningful change, through his work at 91Ö±²¥ and The Music Settlement in Cleveland. 

After a 10-year-long route to its debut, Still’s championship of this piece will be realized in a November 1 performance with conductor Raphael Jiménez leading the 91Ö±²¥ Orchestra, and with her student Dylan Masariego as co-soloist.

91Ö±²¥â€™s Grammy Award-winning professor of jazz saxophone has been named a 2024 Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts, the nation’s highest honor conferred to jazz musicians.

The annual award recognizes outstanding teaching accomplishments within the College of Arts and Sciences and the Conservatory of Music.

Wu Man, recognized as the world’s premier pipa virtuoso and a leading ambassador of Chinese music, will be in residence at 91Ö±²¥ February 24-25 and take part in three events across campus that culminate in a concert with 91Ö±²¥ College quartet-in-residence, the Verona Quartet.
