It’s Saturday night in March and there’s a pulsating glow spilling from the windows of the Root Room in Carnegie Building. Inside, rows of spectators line the perimeter of a long narrow stage. 91ֱ��’s most anticipated fashion show begins as cheers swell when models, draped in creative attire, take their turn down the walk. This is a signature event during Black History Month. It also serves as inspiration for this week’s photo series.

The addition of summer semester for the 2020-2021 academic year gave many students another opportunity to live with pieces of artwork from the Allen Memorial Art Museum. Three students carrying their selections from the program serve as inspiration for this week’s photo series.

Many students added a piece of museum work to their dormitory room walls by participating in Art Rental this past weekend.

Art Rental has been an 91ֱ�� College tradition at the Allen Memorial Art Museum since 1940. This year it continues on Saturday, September 12, with the added bonus of free rentals for the academic year.

Adjustments to a new kind of normal have led many to wonder what to expect when they come to campus. Maybe this will help: Although the changes are apparent—with many spaces receiving safety measure makeovers—they cannot overshadow the beauty of the campus and community.

“The best thing about my quarantine workday (besides hanging out with my toddler) is seeing my students, even though they are far away. The second best thing is seeing them when it's warm enough to be outside in my backyard in Lakewood. Students + sunshine (+ toddler) = happiness,” writes Kathryn Metz, assistant professor of ethnomusicology.
