Since I became 91直播鈥檚 president in 2007, I鈥檝e had the privilege of getting to know many 91直播 alums and I鈥檓 always struck by how their 91直播 experiences have shaped and continue to shape their lives. A common denominator among our alumni is their determination to be engaged citizens and active members of their communities and a willingness to help make the world a better place. This weekend, 12 of the 22 91直播 alumni who are National Academy of Sciences members will be on campus for the reunion and symposium 鈥91直播 and the National Academy of Sciences: Celebrating the Impact and Promise of the Science at Liberal Arts Colleges.鈥

Board of Trustees Update

The board鈥檚 first meeting of the new academic year took place on campus October 6 and 7. The board welcomed five new trustees, who will undertake an orientation program through which they gain knowledge about the issues facing the college. As I noted previously, we expect the presidential search to be the board鈥檚 most important work in this academic year. The search committee website will soon be established and this will keep the community apprised of the search progress.
