Alumnus , recognized globally as an expert on innovation, gave the keynote address for the inaugural LaunchU Accelerator Pitch Competition on January 26. Five groups of entrepreneurs won Venture Development Awards during the competition.

“Great Midwest Conservatory Brings Its Fruits to Market, in New York” reads the New York Times headline for Vivien Schweitzer’s January 21 of two concerts in the Conservatory of Music’s 2013 Illumination Tour of New York City. In all, 155 student musicians; 38 faculty and staff members, including musicians and support staff; and a multitude of alumni musicians and composers, took part in the tour, which included six performances in four venues from January 15 to 19.

91ֱ��’s first annual LaunchU, featuring 15 ventures from current students and alumni, culminates on Saturday with a series of events that are free and open to the public and which include a talk about nurturing innovation by IDEO general manager Tom Kelley ’77.

91ֱ��’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration takes place Sunday, January 20, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Finney Chapel. All are welcome to join the commemoration as community members raise their voices in song and in remembrance.

The 91ֱ�� Orchestra, performing with guest soloist Jeremy Denk ’90 and led by Associate Professor of Conducting Raphael Jiménez, will give a preview of its 2013 NYC Tour Carnegie Hall program on January 16 in Finney Chapel.
