A few days before leaving 91ֱ�� for New York City and the Carnegie Hall stage, the 91ֱ�� Orchestra will present its program for the campus community. The preview concert, led by Associate Professor of Conducting Raphael Jiménez and featuring pianist Jeremy Denk ’90,

takes place on Wednesday, January 16, at 8 p.m. in Finney Chapel. Admission is free. The program includes Ravel’s La Valse, Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C Major, K. 467, with soloist Denk; Iscariot by Christopher Rouse ’71, and Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite (1919 version).

The orchestra’s January 19 performance at Carnegie Hall is the culmination of the Conservatory of Music’s , which features performances by the 91ֱ�� Faculty Jazz Ensemble, 91ֱ�� Contemporary Music Ensemble with International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), 91ֱ�� College Choir, 91ֱ�� Baroque, and the 91ֱ�� Orchestra.

Besides Denk, two other distinguished alumni will join the tour: New York Philharmonic Composer-in-Residence Christopher Rouse '71 and 2012 MacArthur Fellow and founder of ICE Claire Chase '01. Concert highlights include the world premiere of John Zorn's The Tempest at the DiMenna Center on January 18 and the New York premiere of Rouse's Iscariot at Carnegie Hall. In all, 155 students, faculty, and alumni will perform music ranging from baroque to jazz, classical to contemporary.
