Journal of Human Resources Publishes Article by Maggie Brehm

Assistant Professor of Economics Maggie Brehm published the article 鈥淭axes and Adoptions from Foster Care: Evidence from theFederal Adoption Tax Credit鈥 in the fall 2021 issue of . Brehm also presented her joint work with 91直播 College colleagues Paul Brehm and Martin Saavedra, 鈥淭he Ohio Vaccine Lottery and Starting Vaccination Rates,鈥 at Kent State University on September 24.

 

Wendy Beth Hyman Participates in Roundtable at the Shakespeare Association of America

Professor Wendy Beth Hyman participated in a remote roundtable, 鈥淪hakespeare and Social Justice: From Principle to Action,鈥 at the Shakespeare Association of America and also gave an invited talk on literary imagination and Shakespeare鈥檚 Cymbeline at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She will present the lecture, 鈥淥vid, Shakespeare, and Rape: Empowering Survivors in the Early Modern Classroom,鈥 at the online in December.

Cleveland Dance Festival Presents Film by Alysia Ramos

Associate Professor of Dance Alysia Ramos's dance film Becoming Oxum; My Body Remembers is being presented by the Cleveland Dance Festival. Access to the virtual dance film gallery is available through February 5th, 2022.

 

Andrew Macomber Presents at the University of Venice

Assistant Professor of East Asian Religions Andrew Macomber gave a presentation via Zoom for the international conference, 鈥淩eligions, Thoughts, and Health in Asia,鈥 held at the Department of Asian and North African Studies at Ca' Foscari, University of Venice, on October 26, 2021. His talk, "Everything Evil in You: Metapersonal Irritants in the Buddhist Immune System," explored the complicated relationship between disease-causing demons and patients in medieval Japan.

 

Yveline Alexis Wins Haitian Studies Association Book Prize

Associate Professor of Africana Studies and Comparative American Studies Yveline Alexis has won the for her work The Haitian Studies Association鈥檚 biennial Haiti Book Prize is awarded to the best single-authored book in Haitian studies in the social sciences, with broad application beyond the academy.

 

Kirk Ormand Presents at Conference

Professor of Classics Kirk Ormand presented a paper at a conference at Wellesley College October 15-17. The conference explored notions of temporality in ancient Greece and Rome, and Ormand's talk, 鈥淭emporality and Class in Archaic Invective,鈥 explored the relationship between social class, insult,  and temporal change in the poets Archilochus, Hipponax, and Semonides.

Poem by Chanda Feldman Selected for 2021 Best American Poetry Series

Assistant Professor of Creative Writing Chanda Feldman's poem "," originally published in the (Issue: Winter 2020), was selected for inclusion in the Best American Poetry series for 2021 by former U.S. Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Tracy K. Smith.
