The Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is housed in a renovated facility in the Carnegie Building. Students, faculty, and visiting researchers use this instrument to image fine detail on a variety of materials including minerals, microfossils, semiconductors, plankton, pollen, and synthetic crystals.
