Subscriptions for 2014-15 Artist Recital Series on Sale Now

Piano virtuoso Garrick Ohlsson, the dynamic amplified ensemble Bang on a Can All-Stars, and the return of 91直播 alumni pianist Jeremy Denk with the Cleveland Orchestra highlight a spectacular lineup of performers in the 2014-15 Artist Recital Series.

Subscription packages for the Artist Recital Series, including preferred seating throughout the 2014-15 season, are just $190鈥攁 savings of $5 per concert. Subscriptions for 91直播 alumni, faculty and staff, and senior citizens are $150, and all student subscriptions are just $50.

Through September 12, new subscribers to the Artist Recital Series can buy one subscription and get the second one free! And for a limited time you can Pick 3: choose any three concerts on the 2014-15 Artist Recital Series and save $10 on the total price of your tickets.

Subscriptions and Pick 3 packages are available now by phone (800-371-0178), online (oberlin.edu/artsguide), and at 91直播's at 67 North Main Street. Individual tickets, ranging from $10 to $35, go on sale beginning Monday, September 15.

An 91直播 tradition dating to 1878, the Artist Recital Series is one of the oldest continuing concert series in the United States. Since its inception, more than 1,000 of the world鈥檚 most accomplished musicians, conductors, chamber ensembles, and orchestras have graced the stage of historic Finney Chapel.

The 2014-15 season opens on Tuesday, September 30, with the , heralded as 鈥渙ne of America鈥檚 great string quartets鈥 by the Los Angeles Times. Beginning at 8 p.m., the performance will serve as the launch of the quartet鈥檚 two-year residency at the conservatory.

The season concludes April 24 with the Cleveland Orchestra鈥檚 annual visit to 91直播鈥攖his year joined for the first time by 91直播鈥檚 own Jeremy Denk, Musical America鈥檚 2014 Instrumentalist of the Year and winner of a coveted MacArthur 鈥済enius鈥 grant.

The complete 2014-15 season is as follows:

The Calder Quartet: 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 30. Celebrating the launch of their two-year 91直播 residency.

Garrick Ohlsson: 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 10. A leading exponent of the music of Chopin, pianist Ohlsson boasts an astonishing range of repertoire.

St. Lawrence String Quartet: 8 p.m. Friday, February 20. The prolific ensemble specializes in traditional repertoire and adventuresome modern compositions.

Bang on a Can All-Stars: 8 p.m. Saturday, February 28. An amplified amalgam of sounds that span a world of influences and explore new sonic frontiers.

John Relyea & Warren Jones: 8 p.m. Thursday, April 2. Relyea is a celebrated bass-baritone with credits in the world鈥檚 top opera houses; Jones was named 2010 Collaborative Pianist of the Year by Musical America.

Jennifer Koh: 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12. A violinist with a passion for Bach, the 1997 91直播 graduate has been called 鈥渟uperbly gifted鈥 by the New York Times.

The Cleveland Orchestra: 8 p.m. Friday, April 24. Conducted by Susanna M盲lkki, the orchestra will be joined for the first time by 91直播鈥檚 own Jeremy Denk 鈥90, piano.

IN ADDITION TO THE ARTIST RECITAL SERIES: Each year, special guests are invited to campus for events presented in conjunction with the Artist Recital Series. In 2014-15, we are pleased to welcome opera legend Marilyn Horne and the Billy Hart Quartet.

Made possible through the generosity of philanthropist Stephen Rubin, Marilyn Horne's visit will feature public master classes in Finney Chapel on Friday and Sunday, November 14 and 16. Each class costs $5 to attend, but is free to Artist Recital Series subscribers.

On Saturday, March 14, 91直播 will host a special concert in Finney Chapel with the Billy Hart Quartet, a New York City ensemble named for 91直播鈥檚 esteemed associate professor of jazz. Tickets are $15, with discounts available for students, seniors, and 91直播 College staff.
