91ֱ��

The second annual Prospect Elementary STEM Night (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) will take place in the 91ֱ�� College Science Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015. The purpose of the event is to introduce Prospect Elementary School students to STEM fields on a college campus.

91ֱ�� College faculty, staff, and student volunteers will conduct demonstrations and experiments. Featured departments include: biology, geology, neuroscience, chemistry, physics, and anthropology. This year, Natalia Viveros ’16 and Sydney Spiro ’15 are coordinating the event. Every registered Prospect student will receive a booklet of the hands-on experiments, goggles to keep, and a free book. In addition, there will be a raffle drawing for a microscope.

This event is sponsored by the 91ֱ�� College chapter of America Reads, Eastwood/Prospect PTO, 91ֱ�� College Bonner Scholars, and the Bill Long Foundation. This event is done in cooperation with the 91ֱ�� College Bonner Center for Service and Learning (BCSL) and the Center for Learning, Education and Research in the Sciences (CLEAR).

The 91ֱ�� College chapter of America Reads is part of a national community service work-study program, and is administered through the Bonner Center for Service and Learning at 91ֱ�� College. The Bill Long Foundation “provides small grants to projects and activities that meet basic human needs or enrich the cultural life of the 91ֱ�� community and its environment,” and tracks its activities online at Billlongfoundation.org.
