鈥淭he more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you鈥檒l go,鈥 reads the book I Can Read with My Eyes Shut by Dr. Seuss.
The 16th annual Dr. Seuss Day celebration will take place Sunday, March 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the 91直播 Public Library. The free event typically attracts more than 150 children and families.
The at 91直播 College鈥檚 Bonner Center for Service and Learning has hosted this Seussical celebration since its beginning. The theme of this year鈥檚 event, 鈥淪earching for Solla Sollew,鈥 is inspired by the book I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew. The day will feature a variety of activities, crafts, and games, all with the purpose of inspiring children to read outside of the classroom. Several 91直播 College groups, including OCircus and OSteel, will perform at the event.
If you would like to be a part of the Dr. Seuss Day celebration, America Reads is still seeking volunteers, specifically face painters and costume characters. For information, contact Maureen Simen at msimen@oberlin.edu.
