, director of Hillel and Jewish campus life, was a contestant on NPR's weekly hour-long quiz program,
Doherty is a longtime listener of the show. 鈥淚've been a fan of the show since it started airing in 1999, when I was doing my AmeriCorps year after college,鈥 says Doherty. 鈥淚t makes me laugh, perhaps most especially on the weeks when the news is darkest.鈥
One Sunday on a whim, Doherty called the show鈥檚 鈥渂e a contestant鈥 number, and the next day a producer contacted her to be on that week鈥檚 program.
鈥淭he whole process was really fast! I got to call in a little early and listen to the preshow warm up that host Peter Sagal does with the live audience, and then I was on the air,鈥 says Doherty. 鈥淭he parts of the conversation that didn't make it to radio included Peter mentioning his niece who graduated from 91直播, and me talking about how great 91直播 students are.鈥
. The call-in segment with Doherty begins at 1:11.
