The versatile and soulful Leipzig String Quartet comes to Finney Chapel on March 3 at 8 p.m. The "master chamber musicians" will perform an all-Beethoven program and tickets are available by calling 800-371-0178 or online at oberlin.edu/artsguide.

The Washington Post calls 91Ö±²¥ alumnus and Met Opera singer Alek Shrader "a gifted young tenor." He will present a recital at 91Ö±²¥ Conservatory on March 1, at 7 p.m. in Warner Concert Hall. The concert is free and no tickets are required.

The spring 2013 Convocation Series kicks off Thursday, February 7, with influential scholars Kwame Anthony Appiah and Johnnetta Cole ’57.

Journey through the odyssey of works by Beethoven for fortepiano and cello when David Breitman and Jaap ter Linden perform the cycle on February 16 in Kulas Hall. Part I begins at 4:30 p.m., and following a break, Part II continues at 8:00 p.m. Free and no tickets are required.

On Sunday, February 17 at 3 p.m., musicians from the widely acclaimed Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra and 91Ö±²¥ Conservatory of Music will perform in a concert to benefit homeless families served by Family Promise of Lorain County. The concert will be held at First Church in 91Ö±²¥ and donations are welcome.

Faculty violist Michael Strauss is joined by guest artists Roger Roe and R. Kent Cook on February 7 in a concert entitled "Poetic Music for Oboe, Viola, and Piano." Featuring reader Professor of English T.S. McMillin, the concert is free and open to the public.

The Cleveland Orchestra returns to 91Ö±²¥ College for its 211th Artist Recital Series performance on Friday, February 8, at 8 p.m. in Finney Chapel. Gianandrea Noseda will conduct the orchestra in a diverse and colorful program of works by Rachmaninoff, Rota, and Prokoviev. Massimo La Rosa, principal trombone of the orchestra, will perform as soloist. Tickets are $15–$47 and are available at 800-371-0178 or online at www.oberlin.edu/arseries.

The 91Ö±²¥ Orchestra, performing with guest soloist Jeremy Denk ’90 and led by Associate Professor of Conducting Raphael Jiménez, will give a preview of their 2013 NYC Tour Carnegie Hall program on January 16 in Finney Chapel. The concert will begin at 8:00 p.m. and admission is free.

Kindred spirits Steven Isserlis and Jeremy Denk will perform on 91Ö±²¥ College's Artist Recital Series on Tuesday, February 5.
