Susan Graham, the vocalist Gramophone called “America’s favorite mezzo,” will perform with pianist Bradley Moore Sunday, April 6, in Finney Chapel. The 4 p.m. show is presented as part of 91ֱ��'s Artist Recital Series.

In addition, Graham will present a public in Kulas Recital Hall from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, April 7.

Graham is internationally acclaimed as an operatic singer known for embracing a challenge and for distinguished performances in lead roles. She also enjoys an extensive career on the concert stage and in recital. Her remarkable range of repertoire, spanning works from the 17th through 21st centuries, has earned effusive critical accolades, a Grammy Award for her recording of Ives songs, and Musical America's Vocalist of the Year honor. Recognizing Graham's commitment to French music, the French government awarded her the prestigious Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Her most recent album, Virgins, Vixens & Viragos, features songs by 14 composers ranging from Purcell to Sondheim.

Graham’s 91ֱ�� performance will feature music that celebrates great women throughout history and literature, and spans the Baroque period (Purcell’s plaintive “Tell me, some pitying angel”) through the 20th century (Poulenc’s elegant and sophisticated song cycle “Fiançailles pour rire,” and Horovitz’s “Lady MacBeth,” inspired by Shakespeare’s tormented queen).
