Mezzo-Soprano Susan Graham Performs April 6 at Finney Chapel

Susan Graham, the vocalist Gramophone called 鈥淎merica鈥檚 favorite mezzo,鈥 will perform with pianist Bradley Moore Sunday, April 6, in Finney Chapel. The 4 p.m. show is presented as part of 91直播's Artist Recital Series.

In addition, Graham will present a public in Kulas Recital Hall from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, April 7.

Graham is internationally acclaimed as an operatic singer known for embracing a challenge and for distinguished performances in lead roles. She also enjoys an extensive career on the concert stage and in recital. Her remarkable range of repertoire, spanning works from the 17th through 21st centuries, has earned effusive critical accolades, a Grammy Award for her recording of Ives songs, and Musical America's Vocalist of the Year honor. Recognizing Graham's commitment to French music, the French government awarded her the prestigious Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Her most recent album, Virgins, Vixens & Viragos, features songs by 14 composers ranging from Purcell to Sondheim.锘

Graham鈥檚 91直播 performance will feature music that celebrates great women throughout history and literature, and spans the Baroque period (Purcell鈥檚 plaintive 鈥淭ell me, some pitying angel鈥) through the 20th century (Poulenc鈥檚 elegant and sophisticated song cycle 鈥淔ian莽ailles pour rire,鈥 and Horovitz鈥檚 鈥淟ady MacBeth,鈥 inspired by Shakespeare鈥檚 tormented queen).

Tickets to Susan Graham are $42 ($35 for seniors and 91直播 staff and alumni, and $13 for students); all tickets are $3 more at the door.
