In June 1965, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ascended the 91ֱ�� College Commencement stage and delivered the address "Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution." Rev. King was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at that commencement ceremony.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Rev. King’s visit. To commemorate, the Office of the President and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life will host a multifaith baccalaureate celebration with music, blessings, and reflections to inspire the Class of 2015, alumni, families, and friends.

The celebration will feature the panel discussion “” with panelists Johnnetta B. Cole ’57, director of the National Museum of African Art; Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund and 2015 Commencement speaker; Alan B. Wachtel ’68, founder and director of Familyhealth Associates; and U.S. Senator Harris L. Wofford of Pennsylvania. Associate Professor of Religion A.G. Miller will moderate.

The celebration is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, in Finney Chapel.
