Amy Huang ’13, coordinator of the 2013 Day of Service, says she has been involved with the event since she was an incoming first-year student. “The Day of Service is a unique opportunity for the incoming class to come together and build relationships with residents and organizations of Lorain County early in their time at 91ֱ�� College,” she says.

Sponsored by the Bonner Center for Service and Learning and the Orientation Committee at 91ֱ��, Day of Service provides an opportunity for new students—first years and transfers—as well as returning students to not only complete community service projects, but also to connect with other students and community members.

“We hope that students will not only learn important information about the vibrant nonprofit sector in 91ֱ�� and Lorain County on the day, but also become inspired to get involved with the community beyond campus through our many curricular and co-curricular initiatives,” says Beth Blissman, director of the Bonner Center.

This year's Day of Service, the college's 17th, took place on Saturday, August 31. Students worked at more than 35 sites throughout Lorain County.
