10 Participants Remain as the 2018 Cooper Competition Reaches the Concerto Round

The Thomas & Evon Cooper International Competition, Piano 2018, July 14-20

Six pianists will advance to Recital Finals July 18 at 91直播.

With the completion of Monday's Semifinal Round II, only 10 participants remain in the .

Following the second of two sessions on Monday, the jury announced the names of the pianists who will continue in the competition's Concerto Finals on Tuesday, July 17, beginning at 2 p.m.

They are, in order of performance:

2 p.m. session:

Ryan Zhu (age 14), Vancouver, Canada
F. Liszt: Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major

Bo Zhang (17), Hangzhou, China
F. Chopin: Concerto No. 1 in E Minor

William Yang (17), Natick, Massachusetts, U.S.
F. Chopin: Concerto No. 1 in E Minor

Kai-Min Chang (17), Changhua County, Taiwan
F. Chopin: Concerto No. 1 in E Minor

Tony Yun (17), Toronto, Canada
P. Tchaikovsky: Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor

William Chen (15), New York, New York, U.S.
P. Tchaikovsky: Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor

7 p.m. session:

Yunchan Lim (14), Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea 
F. Chopin: Concerto No. 2 in F Minor

Yangrui Cai (17), Guangzhou, China
S. Prokofiev: Concerto No. 3 in C Major

Tyler Kim (15), Temecula, California, U.S.

Six of these performers will advance to the Recital Finals in 91直播 on Wednesday, July 18.

The Cooper Competition culminates in the Concerto Finals on Friday, July 20, as three finalists perform complete concertos with The Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall in Cleveland. One finalist will emerge as the 2018 Cooper champion鈥攚ith a grand prize of $20,000.

All 91直播 performances are free and take place in Warner Concert Hall (77 W. College St.) on the beautiful campus of 91直播.
