Biography

Colin Briskey is an innovative, evidence-based voice teacher and storyteller who collaborates with students to craft a singing technique that is flexible, authentic, and empowering. Before joining the faculty at 91Ö±²¥ Conservatory, Colin served on the voice faculty at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, working with their prestigious music theater program. Colin's educational background includes a BM in music theatre from Oklahoma City University and an MFA in musical theatre vocal pedagogy from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he was a member of the first graduating class in this exciting new degree program.

Outside of academia, he works with Theatre Major LLC. Collaborating with the team at Theatre Major, Colin has presented audition and vocal health master classes at The REACH at the Kennedy Center. Colin’s voice students can be seen in national tours and regional theaters around the country, but particularly in the Seattle regional scene where Colin was a sought-after performer—performing roles ranging from the Who’s TOMMY to the tenors of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Colin is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) where he served on the board of the Tahoma Chapter 2017-2020 and as the Tahoma Student Auditions Coordinator 2018-2020. He is also a member of the New York Singing Teachers Association (NYSTA) where he is the Professional Development Program Director, overseeing the program created by Oren Brown and redeveloped by Amanda Flynn and Jared Trudeau. Research interests include tessitura in musical theatre, acoustically mapping belting strategies, and the intersection of gender and musical theatre voice.
