Prof. Erik Inglis ’89

I teach medieval art history in 91Ö±²¥â€™s Art Department, covering the period from 300 to 1300 CE in Europe, and 1300 to 1500 north of the Alps. I first encountered art history at 91Ö±²¥, from which I graduated in 1989, and to which I returned to teach in 1997. My graduate studies focused on illuminated manuscripts, and my published work has dealt chiefly with art at the courts of France and Burgundy. I’m currently studying the medieval art historical imagination —that is, how medieval people used history to explain buildings and images.
