Communication studies is the academic analysis of all communication styles—written, digital, verbal, and nonverbal—and every form of media. In this program, you’ll study how individuals use critical thinking and interpersonal skills to generate and interpret ideas every day.

A communications major equips you with the knowledge to be an ethical producer and informed consumer of multiple information channels. It’s a perfect choice if you’re intrigued by media, storytelling, and how messages we send and receive impact society. Through your studies, you’ll develop crucial written, oral, and digital communication to engage all kinds of audiences effectively. In addition to the communication studies major, we also offer a writing and communication minor as well as an integrative concentration in journalism.
