Biography

Amanda Zadorian is a critical political economist who studies the role of ideas and identities in capitalist development. Her book project is about the oil industry and political legitimacy in Russia and Brazil. Before coming to 91直播, Amanda lived in Russia as a postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Higher School of Economics, Moscow. She earned her PhD (2018) in politics at The New School for Social Research in New York.

Comparative and international political economy, political legitimacy, the oil industry, business-state relations, state capitalism, urban politics under autocracy, corporate responses to climate change.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Politics Amanda Zadorian is a contributor to "Costs of Non-Enlargement - a Foresight Report on EU Enlargement and Neighbourhood" (published by and Zeit-Stiftung Bucerius). It argues that Europe's interests are best served by bringing Ukraine and its neighbors into the European Union as full members. The report launches this month with events in Brussels and Berlin.
